About Us
About the Kenyan Teacher Welfare Community in the USA
How it All Started
WWGU was born out of a simple but powerful truth: life is lighter when shared. Teachers from Kenya, now spread across the U.S., saw the need for a structure that would ensure no one faces life’s challenges alone. This constitutionally guided group is built on fairness, transparency, and democracy — ensuring that every member has a voice and a place in shaping our future.
Why We Exist
Growth & Collaboration
WWGU is a living network of educators: Building friendships across states. Offering mentorship and shared wisdom. Strengthening ties between Kenyan teachers in the diaspora.
Community & Advocacy
We are more than a welfare group. We also: Provide a platform for teachers to connect, share experiences, and exchange ideas. Advocate for the rights and well-being of Kenyan teachers in the U.S. Foster unity through meetings, events, and cultural bonds.
Crisis Assistance
Life can bring unexpected challenges. WWGU stands ready to help in: Illness or hospitalization – providing moral and financial support. Job loss or dismissal – members deliberate and extend help on a case-by-case basis. Accidents – assistance and encouragement to help members get back on their feet.
Bereavement Support
Losing a loved one is never easy, especially far from home. Financial contributions to ease funeral and related costs. Emotional and spiritual support from fellow members. Solidarity that reminds you that you are not alone.
Ready to Be Part of Something Bigger?
Every day, teachers across the U.S. are finding strength, support, and community through Walimu Welfare Group USA. Together, we ease burdens, celebrate victories, and create a legacy that goes beyond the classroom. Don’t just stand by, stand with us.
